Can you tell I’m excited about this one? Can you? Oh boy. LOOK WHAT I GOT!

It’s a Baby Lock Grace, and I love it oh so very much.

Growing up, I remember my mother sewing all the time. She made our Halloween Costumes.

Okay yeah, this picture is from before I can actually remember, but it’s the only one I have access to right now. I do remember having an awesome Cinderella costume when I was about five. I also remember that by the time my sister wanted to be Cinderella, mom decided to make a whole new costume for her. Because that’s so much easier than using the one that’s already finished.

Keep in mind, I’m one of five kids. So we’re not just talking one incredibly detailed and amazing costume per year. She spent months on these costumes. I’m going to need to find pictures my brother as a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle. She also made the dresses that my sister and I wore in our Aunt’s wedding.

Anyway, all this to say that I grew up thinking moms sew. And I always figured that when I had kids, I’d sew too. What I didn’t think about was how I was going to actually learn to sew. Until recently. The other day I realized that by this time next year I’m going to need to be actively working on some kind of kick-ass costume for my kid. And since I like to plan ahead (ha!), I decided now was the time to start figuring out just how to go about doing that.

The machine came with 2 free sewing lessons, plus a 3 year membership to the store’s monthly sewing club, so I’m going to get to learn a ton! My first class is next Friday, and I can’t wait.
