The weather here has been beautiful for the past few days. I had been hoping that would translate to a trip to the beach this weekend, but it appears as though temps will be dropping to the 50s by Sunday. Typical NorCal.
I still have beach on the brain though, which is why I made this card.
I’m not a big fan of coloring backgrounds with Copics, because it takes so much work to get large areas to be perfectly smooth. But this method is the perfect remedy for that.
By layering dots of different color, I can make backgrounds that are perfectly un-even. It’s a lot faster, and a lot of fun. Since the inks still blend with each other while they’re wet, the effect is nice and soft, like watercolor. And, you can work in small sections rather than trying to keep your whole background wet while you work.
I stuck to color families in this example, but this is a seriously fun technique for mixing different colors together.
