All Kinds Of Fun Stuff Today

All crammed into one project:

I know it’s too early for Easter stuff, but when I saw this little Spring Bunnies stamp from Hambo I couldn’t resist.

And, I’m getting a little burnt out from cards, so I wanted to try something different. The pattern for the box (bag, basket, whatever you want to call it) was adapted from a cutting file I downloaded from Pazzles. The original file had little oval cutouts for a handle, and the score lines were meant to be kiss cut. I always use the embossing tool for scoring. (I don’t like perforating because it makes the final product that much more fragile.) I could have also just cut the outline and scored by hand, but it’s nice to let the machine do all the work.

The stamp is just so much fun. The happy sproingyness of the bunnies made me want to add dimension, so I colored a second image, cut out two of the bunnies, and attached them over the original with 3D Dots. The bunnies are colored with Copics. I used a lot of colorless blender to fade the colors to white. This is a technique that I always had trouble with, but I finally got it during the certification class. The trick is to put down the blender ink first, and then feather the color into it. Now I want to use this technique on everything (so that’s exactly what I did).

But I have to say, my favorite part of this is the handle. You’ve seen me use this ribbon before. I buy it in white (I always have 2-3 rolls on hand) and color it with Copics. For this I cut 4 pieces, colored each a different color, and braided them together. Who knew learning to make friendship bracelets in 4th grade would turn into a useful life skill?

All the paper I used was inked lightly with Victorian Velvet Distress Ink. That and Chipped Sapphire are my new favorite colors. I find myself using them on everything.

Hope you enjoy. Now I need to go actually make some Valentines or something.
