More Card Cupids

I’m interrupting your regularly-scheduled New Toy Tuesday to bring you two new cards I made for Card Cupids. If you missed my last posts about this charity, they collect cards to distribute to hospitalized children. They currently have three children on their list (two girls and one boy), so before I sent my first card I wanted to make sure I had one for each of them.

It’s hard to make cards for boys. Most scrapbooking/cardmaking supplies are decidedly girly, and lot of times even the stuff that’s meant for men is a little iffy. I had the football and soccer ball die cuts as well as the All Star charm in my stash–they were seriously the only boy-centric embellishments I owned that weren’t specifically meant for newborns.

I went purposely no-frills on this one, and I think it works. The baseball I made myself yesterday got used on the inside, since dark blue paper isn’t the best for printing on. And I couldn’t resist using my black Spica when I signed it, so yes, there’s a tiny bit of glitter on this card.

The girl card was designed around Princess Petunia from Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps. A couple weeks ago I won a card challenge over at CPS, and Petunia was my prize. I think she’s adorable. Veils are not easy to color, and the lighter pinks really aren’t showing up well in the picture. I swear it looks better in real life. I also went over her veil and skirt with a clear Spica, so she’s more glittery than the picture suggests.

The rub-on came from my stash, and I wish I could remember where I got it. It transferred so easily. I also added a few rhinestones after I snapped the picture, just for fun.

And of course, the edging is done with a Martha Stewart border punch. I used to think I didn’t need these, and now I’m completely addicted. They’re so versatile.
