So Amazing

Christy Copics, Ink & Paper 11 Comments

I created this card for an amazing new charity called Card Cupids. They collect cheerful cards for children with terminal illnesses.

This card started with the image. What better stamp for a cheerful card than Cheerleader Marci from La La Land Crafts? Here’s a tip, though. When you’re making a card, don’t color your image before you pick out your paper. BG 45 and 49 aren’t colors I use often, so I reached for them this morning thinking I’d do something new. Of course, then it took me forever to pick out matching paper. I think the pinks ended up looking nice. I tried every shade of blue and green I have before I stumbled on the pinks.

It’s a very simple layout, but I had a lot of fun with the little details. The brads and flower charm are from Queen & Company. The rhinestones were plain clear ones that I colored with BG49. (This is a great money saver. Instead of buying every color of rhinestones available–because I would–I can just buy clear ones and use Copics to match them to my cards.) Finally, you can’t see it in the picture, but the white flowers on the background are colored in with a clear Spica pen. Spicas have little flecks of mica suspended in the ink, so you get just a hint of glitter when you write with them. The clear pen (obviously) just provides the hint of glitter. Love.
